ANIMAL HUSBANDRY & VETERINARY Department

The Department of Animal Husbandry and is an Indian Government department. It is entrusted with the responsibility of all aspect of livestock and poultry development, like production, processing and marketing of livestock and poultry and their products through augmentation of production of milk, meat and eggs. Animal health care service and prevention of animal diseases is a priority for maintenance of a healthy stock for optimum production. Creation of suitable infrastructure for breeding, feeding and management of livestock products is also given due importance. Besides, the Department is engaged in providing the required train and extension support to livestock producers so as to promote scientific rearing of livestock and poultry amongst them with consequent generation of employment avenues in the rural area.

 

• Creation of required infrastructure in all the livestock breeding farms namely:- 1). Pig Farm Rongjeng 2). Buffalo farm Songsak 3). Poultry farm Williamnagar for production and supply of improved germ plasma to the farmers to meet the rapidly growing demand of high yielding cattle, poultry, piglets etc.
• Creation of adequate infrastructure towards necessary veterinary service for proper preventive and curative measures for disease of livestock and birds in the district keeping conformity with development in the animal resource sector. Need base training programme for livestock farmers. Registration, ear tagging and vaccination to protect from the diseases.
• Artificial Insemination in cattle to produce improved livestock.
