Housing Department

The Housing Department at the district level, is the District Housing Office which is a branch of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and placed under the Administrative control of the Deputy Commissioner. The formatting of the Branch is most of regulatory, and statutory. It functions under the superintendence, direction of the Deputy Commissioner (Housing), East Garo Hills District.

The District offices under the charge of the Deputy Commissioner (Housing) are to distribute loan and grant-in-aid forms, scrutinise the applications, make enquiries and verifications disburse the loan amount installment or grant-in-aid or carry out other functions that Government may assigned from time to time.

Organisation: The subject matter dealt with by the Branch is received first as dak from the receipt section where it arrives at the desk of the Branch Officer. The Branch Officer then distributes the correspondence to the concerned Dealing Assistant who put it up in the file and route the file to the Inspector of Housing. The Inspector of Housing then puts up the file to the Branch officer i.e. the District Housing Officer/ADC i/c Housing, then to the Deputy Commissioner.

 

Functions
  • The Branch sees to the paper work, Inspection, reports and progress for implementing the Schemes i.e. the Rural Housing Scheme.
  • The Branch deals with intimating the beneficiaries to complete the formalities required for the Scheme, sanctions and also release of the Grant i.e. (Three Bundles of C.G.I Sheets) to the sanctioned beneficiaries.
  • The branch built houses under various categories and rent them out to the state employees as per rent fixed by the Government from time to time. In Williamnagar, there are 1 no. MIG (6 units), 12 nos. LIG and 10 nos. EWS Rental Houses.
